Questions to Ask Your Web Designer

Finding a web designer is like having a soul mate that knows your vision and desires of your life. It is difficult enough to find someone who understands you and someone whom you are putting all your trust to. It will be harder to deal with a web designer who does not push through with all the promises that he made before the contract was signed. Here are questions that you need to ask your web designer after you signed him up for a project:

How is the website going?

web designThis may be a simple question but this is a loaded one. It may be a vague question and you may not be getting a ton of information with this one. Your goal with this question is not really to get updates with your site but more of knowing whether the web designer is working on your site or not. Gaining a lot of website visitors is crucial for your site. And if your website is not finished as scheduled you might be losing money more than you think.

Your website designer should give you viable information when you ask him this question. See if he gives concrete data about where your site is in terms of the contract that you agreed upon. The more detailed he is, the more confident you will be about how your website is doing.

Can I take a peek of my website?

Web designers do not show a site before it is done. You would not want to show an audience an unfinished project because it might look appealing at first. Some would oblige to this request but some don’t. It is probably best to check your contract to see if you are allowed to see the progress of your site anytime. Check to see the site looks aesthetically good even on its phase today. Check the color combinations and the content. This question will also tell you if he can build a website for your company.

Did you apply SEO on the site?

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is an important step to take on your website because it makes sure that your site appears on Search Engine results. People who do not know about your company will get to see it in search results. You will gain new markets and have new customers through SEO.

A client should not be in the dark when he asks someone to make a website for him. The web designer should make it a point to update his client, at least, once a week regarding the progress of the website that he is doing.

It can be quite frustrating if your website designers do not update you with the progress of your site. Most of the web designers I know do not wait for the client to ask questions. He volunteers the information about the updates that he did on the site. It is better and more convenient this way.

You do not have to be nosy on your questions. Just ask him how the site is going and if you can take a look at the unfinished site if possible. You just have to put your whole trust in him that he will finish the website on time based on the contract that you agreed upon.
